Kilkenny man’s death treated as suspicious

garda_2Gardai are investigating the circumstances of a Kilkenny man’s death, whose body was found in a house on Thursday.

The deceased has been named as Anthony Barrett of Parliament Street.

The body was discovered at 7pm at Fatima Place in Kilkenny. Gardaí are treating the death as suspicious.

The body was taken to Waterford Regional Hospital where a post-mortem is underway, supervised by Deputy State Pathologist Dr Khalid Jabbar.

Due to the sensitive nature of the on-going operation, details of the man’s death have not been released.

Gardaí have appealed to anyone who may have been in the area of Fatima Place between Wednesday and Thursday and who may have witnessed anything to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 7775000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
