The Longford Jam is a unique night of fundraising though music. Taking place in “The Little Blue Room” in John Browne’s Longford on July 2nd, it promises to make a song and dance about poverty.

The line-up includes Midnight Roots, Tómas Skelly, The Driftwood Manor, Sean Rooney and Brave Giant.

A few months back, I was approached by Oxjam because of my involvement in the Irish music scene with my website Ceol Caint. They were specifically looking for people outside of Dublin to create further awareness of the work they do.

Oxjam is the music side of Oxfam which is a worldwide organisation that fights against poverty. Oxjam run a stage at Electric Picnic every year and are now expanding their horizons through volunteers across the country running gigs for the cause.

The Longford Jam is five bands for five euro, making it a very affordable night of entertainment. The idea being that local musicians are coming together to create a special night in aid of people who really need it most.

As with any jam, anyone can get involved. While there’s a set line-up, in between each act there’s the opportunity for anyone who wants to sing or play a tune to get up and sing to do so.

The line-up is complete with high quality artists who will without a doubt soon play the big arenas and festivals of Ireland. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to catch them in this small setting at this great price.
