A Cuppa With: Sean Rooney

Rachel meets Sean Rooney for a cuppa and a chatSean Rooney

Sean Rooney is a musician from County Longford. After playing in a number of bands over the years, including weddings and cover bands, Sean has re-launched as an original musician. Reminiscent of a young Alex Turner in The Last Shadow Puppets style, Sean plays his sophisticated style of indie-rock with a classic edge.

Sean has come to the fore over recent weeks as his stunning music highlighting depression went viral. Beginning with Everest High, which to date has over 20,000 views, Sean released a series of videos capturing the attention and the hearts of a massive new fan base.

Following this, he played a support slot to Brave Giant over two nights in Whelans. He will also play Longford Summer Festival this weekend, Ceol Caint’s gig Longford Jam for Oxjam on July 2 and Liquor Rooms on July 10.

I met him for A Cuppa With, we spoke about going solo, how nerve wracking it is being yourself, and the inspiration behind songs about abandoned pubs and mystery women. Check it out. Sean Rooney will also feature on Rachel’s 8radio “A Cuppa with Rachel Masterson” show next week.
