Gigs to go to in Dublin this weekend
As usual Dublin town is bursting at the seams with great music this weekend. From outdoor amphitheaters, to famous barbershops; there is no excuse for not hearing something wonderful.
Let’s hope this weather holds out for Friday as the air around Wood Quay Amphitheater explodes with fantastic sounds. Hosted by Happenings and curated by Nialler9, it’s part of the series of once-off events in unique space. Kicking off at 6:30, for only €5 you get to experience the wonderful Saint Sister, Stomptown Brass and I Have A Tribe.
As part of his UK and Irish Tour, Eric Martin, The Voice of Mr Big, will play The Workmans Club on Friday night. With support from Grainne Duffy and Tommy Rockit, it is sure to be a special evening of music. It begins at 8pm, with tickets costing €20; available from ticketmaster and The Workmans Club.
The Rothar Sessions takes place on Friday 28th August from 8pm in Rothar Cafe on Fade Street, Dublin 2. It is free entry and features various singer-songwriters for an acoustic session every month. Friday night will see Barry Jay Hughes, Colm Gavin and James Daly take the stage.
Everybody’s favourite barbershop will as usual host the best talent around. This Saturday, Abner Brown’s will host Corner Boy. From 9pm, and completely free, you can delight your ears while relaxing with a few BYOB. Make sure to get down early for this one as space is limited.
The semi-final of War at the Button will take place in The Button Factory this Saturday. Thirteen bands will battle in out to secure a place in the final. For only a fiver, and all of this music; it is pretty epic value. The line-up includes: Myth , Within Without, Barry Jay Hughes, Kevyn, Casual Minds Last Second Magic, Fallen Lights, Sub Motion, Loop Culture , Alex Jordan & CO, Hotel on Mars, Privado, TriptiK Empire.
The Cobblestone on North King Street will host a wonderful night of music on Saturday night from 8:30pm. Sit back and relax with a few pints and the amazing sounds of Ye Vagabonds, Jem Mitchell and Morgan O’Kane; and all for only €10.
